Stunning grandeur and fine detailing is simply the back drop to engineering efforts which are woven into this structure and bring the live performances to life.
 
The Melbourne Recital Centre & MTC Theatre is considered one of the world finest performance spaces for music and live theatre.
 
Since its completion in 2008 the Melbourne Recital Centre & MTC Theatre has awarded many accolades including.
 
  • ARUP Acoustics won Gold award of Merit for Excellence in 2009 by the Association of Consulting Engineers
  • National Commercial Master Builder of the Year for the project builder, Bovis Lend Lease
  • Best building in Australia at the 2009 Master Builders' National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards
  • Master Builders Excellence in Construction award for buildings over $80 million & National Commercial/Industrial Construction Award (over $100 million)
  • The project was also awarded four of the highest honours at the Victorian Architecture Awards including the 2009 Victorian Architecture Medal, the William Wardell Award for public architecture, the Marion Mahony Award for interior architecture and the Joseph Reed Award for urban design

 
Holyoake for its part played an important role in the air conditioning design and delivery together with Umow Lai the mechanical services design engineers. Much of the Holyoake designed equipment was acoustically tested to meet the exacting requirement of ARUP Acoustics. These efforts have delivered an outstanding contribution to Melbourne's arts precinct.
